Failing Hot Water Ring Main Replaced Across Multi-Level Commercial Building
East Plumbing Co. replaced a failing hot water ring main system across multiple levels of a commercial building. The aging Aquatherm pipework had developed multiple splits, bursts, and active leaks, disrupting building operations and requiring a comprehensive system upgrade.
Rather than continuing with costly piecemeal repairs, East Plumbing Co. proposed and delivered a single, coordinated upgrade — replacing the existing pipework with 316 stainless steel components across the full ring main. Work included new ring main installation, fire-rated sealing, lagging installation, valve integration, and a coordinated cutover completed within one planned shutdown day.
The approach required careful coordination across building levels, managing penetrations through ceilings, plaster, and water meter cupboards while minimising hot water downtime for building occupants.
Key Outcomes: Enhanced system reliability eliminating recurring Aquatherm failures, reduced future leak and outage risk, minimal occupant disruption during the upgrade, and a compliant, maintainable hot water system for long-term operation.
